PeriAnesthesia Nurses Week is celebrated every year by nurses all across Canada. This is the week to promote the essential work that we do! It is the week to advertise and publicize PeriAnesthesia Nursing for the public and for other health care professionals.
Perianesthesia Nurses Week has been designated as the first full week in February every year. The special "PeriAnesthesia Nurses Day" is held on the Wednesday of that week.
Celebrations may include a large lifesize display of the technology that perianesthesia nurses use in the workplace every day, and this will vary depending on your area of employment: from endoscopy suites to PACU's, from Labour and Delivery to dental suites. A display in the foyer or lobby will catch the eye of many potential "customers". Other perianesthesia nurses have coffee and food to celebrate, other's are given gifts from employers, some go out to celebrate: to theatres, restaurants, skiing or curling in groups.
Whatever way you choose to celebrate, make it count! Let everyone know that you and the work you do is very important and should be noticed!
Please read a special message from the President of our National Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurses of Canada (NAPANc) for this year, 2010:
NAPANc President's Greetings for PeriAnesthesia Nurses Week, 2010!
