The Ontario PeriAnesthesia Nurses Association is comprised of an experienced Executive with the following designations: President, President-Elect, Past President, Secretary and Treasurer. To become a member of the Executive, this volunteer must be a member of the Board of Directors for at least one year and be an ongoing member of RNAO. Each of these positions is a two year term, with only half of the Executives' members changing annually to allow for continuity.
The Board of Directors is comprised of a Regional Director from each of the 7 regions of Ontario along with the Directors at Large (4) who each have a role specific to their title (see Board of Directors, listed at the left of this page for more information). These members are nominated by OPANA volunteers, and must accept their nominations and the work involved with each position.
The Advisory Council is a group of experienced health care professionals who have also accepted a nomination to this Council. They are either Professional Practice (Nursing) experts or Medical experts in the field of perianesthesia health care. The Advisory Council supports the Board and the Executive in practice issues and in the operations of the Association.
Committees of OPANA can be organized or dissolved as the Association's requirements change. The Board of Directors must approve the new committee by way of a majority vote. Chairs of these committees may volunteer for the position(s) but must report all activities to the Board of Directors.
