OPANA's Executive and Board of Directors have included this section, "Clinical Practice" to assist you with practice issues in your workplace. We encourage you to submit relevant questions to our panel of experts from across the province. Please click on "Ask your Clinical Practice Questions" section, and OPANA's team of practitioners and experts will respond to your question in a timely fashion. Answers to your questions will be based on evidence of recent research results and from advisors and related associations' practice standards.
Many routine questions and standards will also be posted for your quick reference in this section. Please review the list of "Standards" to your left of this page. Where a position to be taken is required in relation to current issues, please refer to the "Positions Statements" also available to your left.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) is a new section for the OPANA website. In areas of practice where questions are asked of OPANA on a routine basis by perianesthesia nurses, answers to these common themes have been given a place for an immediate reference.
OPANA's "Standards of Perianesthesia Nursing Practice" is described in detail further in this section. Please feel free to order your own set of Standards by logging on to "Standards of Perianesthesia Nursing Practice 2005 Order Online".
Join the Standards Committee: The Standards Committee is responsible for maintaining current, evidence-based perianesthesia standards. It also develops position statements on issues pertinent to perianesthesia practice. Many Clinical Educators and Clinical Nurse Specialists are members of the Standards Committee. If you feel you have the interest and the qualifications to join this committee, please click on the section, "Join the Standards Committee", complete the form and submit to the OPANA office, or email us at
