We use a screening tool for OSA in our preop clinic.
The nurse asks:
1. Do you snore (audible beyond closed doors)?
2. Do you fall asleep easily during the day?
3. Do you have hypertension?
4. Has your partner ever observed you stop breathing during sleep?
5. Do you have sleep apnea?

If the patient answers yes to 2 or more questions, they are referred to the anesthesiologist for preop assessment. If they use a CPAP machine, they are instructed to bring this with them on the day of surgery. Frances Chung has published much literature on OSA if you need current references
